Room for cybersecurity in the water industry

One downside of digitalization is the emergence of new vulnerabilities and attack surfaces for cyberattacks. This is also affecting the water management sector, where the increasing transformation from physical to cyber-physical systems has led to an increase in cyberattacks.The SeRWas project supports stakeholders in the water industry by developing a mix of different methods and tools to rapidly detect cyberattacks, pass on knowledge to employees, and thus raise awareness. This enables companies to safely grow with digitalization.

Project Activities

During the project period from December 2023 to November 2025, we will be developing with four project partners:

  • Methods and tools for detailed assessment and risk analysis to reduce attack surfaces for cyberattacks

  • Advanced and robust algorithms as instruments of artificial intelligence to enable early and continuous detection of attacks and improve situational and risk assessment

  • Target-group-oriented, innovative methods of knowledge transfer to facilitate adaptation to proven practices and raise awareness of new security architectures

Target Group

The SeRWas project targets stakeholders in the water management sector who aim to enhance protection against cyberattacks, as well as those who seek to impart knowledge and awareness to employees.

The goal of the SeRWas project is to raise awareness about cyberattacks in the water management sector and to provide methods, tools, and knowledge to enable their timely detection and mitigation.
