FuTourAlliance – Future Tourism Skills Alliance for a Resilient and Innovative Europe

A Platform for Joint European Skills Development in Tourism

The European tourism sector is one of the largest branches of the economy — and at the same time faces profound transformation. Skills shortages, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and increasing sustainability requirements necessitate a fundamental modernisation of education and training systems.

FuTourAlliance – Future Tourism Skills Alliance for a Resilient and Innovative Europe – is developing a joint European qualification strategy for tourism as part of an Erasmus+ Blueprint project. The focus lies on data-based skills monitoring, the further development of future-oriented occupational profiles, and a Europe-wide compatible microcredential system to support flexible learning pathways and workforce mobility. Together with partner organisations from 13 countries, we are working towards modern, resilient, and competitive skills structures for the tourism sector of tomorrow.

This creates new perspectives for professionals, businesses, and regions — in line with our commitment to promoting qualifications that empower individuals and secure economic sustainability for the future.

  • a data-driven European Tourism Skills & Training Strategy that systematically identifies future competence requirements and translates them into concrete measures

  • a Europe-wide Tourism Skills & Training Intelligence Mechanism that continuously collects and analyses data on labour market trends, skills gaps, and training provision

  • modernised occupational profiles that incorporate artificial intelligence, data management, and robotics

  • a modular, Europe-wide, recognisable microcredential system enabling flexible learning pathways and enhanced workforce mobility
